Trade show kicks off in Munich

6 April 2022

Finally, the time has come again: in the city on the Isar, exhibitors, architects and designers will meet at the first edition of ARCHITECT@WORK this year on April 27 and 28, 2022.

Waited long enough: ARCHITECT@WORK opens its doors at Messe München. And you can be curious, because the jury has once again selected new, innovative products with its usual rigorous eye, inviting visitors on an exciting journey of discovery. But also when you look forward to fresh impulses: the usual high quality, the familiar way of presentation and the appreciated amenities for the visitors are among the uncompromising standards of ARCHITECT@WORK.

n addition to the special show "HEALTHY.MATERIALS" by raumprobe and the show of works by the World-Architects platform, the popular "habits" naturally include the podium for inspiring lectures. Hannes Bäuerle of raumprobe will kick things off with his lecture "Healthy.Materials - Criteria and Exemplary Healers" - complementary to the exhibition - offering the audience the chance to learn about criteria and the composition of recipes to follow when using healthy materials. By means of handy portraits, he thereby presents exemplary materials and building materials of all stripes with which health can be actively promoted in the building sector.

Particularly pleasing is the fact that this edition features a particularly large number of women. Thus one may look forward immediately on the first fair day to the contributions of the Meraner Architektin Christina Biasi - of mountain of the architect's office biquadra and the residents of Munich Architektin Alexandra Wagner of allmannwappner. Christina Biasi - von Berg explores the question of what beauty has to do with sustainability, and uses projects to show what is worth preserving in buildings and interiors and how important quality and aesthetics are in sustainable construction, renovation, reuse and repair. Alexandra Wagner speaks up on the topic of appropriateness and with the phrase "responsibility is scale-free." In her view, sustainable design of living spaces encompasses all scales - from urban planning to architecture to design - and that the complexity of requirements calls for appropriate solutions.

Professor Tina Kammer from InteriorPark and Munich-based architect Dorothee Maier from meierei also have a lot to say, and the stage belongs to them on the second day of the fair. With "Let's transform together", Tina Kammer will highlight opportunities and motivation for sustainable building and present new planning approaches, aesthetics and a new social narrative. With "Es grünt so grün" (It's so green), Dorothee Maier urges us to pause before we get carried away with building or buying new properties, fall victim to supposed sustainability as a sales pitch, and cover our own consumer behavior with green pretense. She takes a critical look at ways of thinking as well as the possibilities as a planner and designer to show positive perspectives. Her presentations will frame the contribution of DGNB President Professor Amadeus Samsøe Sattler, who is of the opinion that when it comes to climate-friendly building, the focus is clearly on materials and construction methods, whereby naturally renewable materials, but also reused materials, can be processed with little energy input. This can result in a strengthened indoor climate and unexpected beauty.

This and much more awaits the trade fair guests of the spring edition of ARCHITECT@WORK Munich, who are all cordially invited to make a note of the further editions in Vienna (12 + 13 October 2022), Berlin (19 + 20 October 2022) and for the first time in Frankfurt (07 + 08 December 2022) already for the coming autumn. After all, the personal, haptic live experience cannot be replaced by any digital online presentation.
